Every Wednesday at 12:00/noon CST the Ministry Lab offers a zoom Midweek Retreat: a Contemplative Practice to revive the spirit and renew the soul. Practitioners of all levels are invited to participate.
Today’s practice is a guided meditation taking us to our “happy place” where we’ll see, hear, taste, touch, smell and feel the Divine Presence – the better to see, hear, taste, touch, smell and feel the Divine Presence in every moment of every day.
“You are a light. You are the light. Never let anyone—any person or any force—dampen, dim or diminish your light. Study the path of others to make your way easier and more abundant. Lean toward the whispers of your own heart, discover the universal truth, and follow its dictates.” – John Lewis
These words from Rev. John Lewis ground this week’s practice. Join us for a time of simple silence, leaning toward “the whispers of our own hearts”.
Much is being asked of us in these days and much is being taken from us. Today, let yourself sit in the Divine Presence ready to receive.
Pray the Prayer Jesus Taught Us as a body prayer: balance body, mind and spirit with this gentle opening to a new perspective on an ancient prayer.
How is the Sacred showing up in your life, today? What joys and concerns do you need to share with the Divine? Take some time to rest in Holy Mystery and be renewed for the tasks and celebrations of this day and week.
As the US prepares to celebrate the 4th of July, red, white and blue is appearing everywhere. But this year, some folks from our Black, Indigenous and People of Color communities are suggesting we refrain from large 4th of July celebrations, recognizing that “independence” is not equitably shared among all US citizens. As the question of skin color rightly permeates society, it seems appropriate to sit with color.
Today’s practice will be Praying with an Icon. Join us for a time to stretch and breathe, observe the Divine within and without, and experience renewal through resting in the gaze of the Sacred.
